For consultants and agencies serving local businesses

Customers now ask Google Maps questions. Find out what your client’s Google profile answers wrong, or not at all.

Paste in what the profile shows. Set it against what the owner confirms. Get a report that lists the wrong details, the unanswered customer questions and the buttons that lead nowhere, each one tied to a quote.

One-time purchase. No monthly fee. Works with a manual copy-and-paste AI workflow, or your own API key if you prefer.

The question nobody asked you to check

What happens when a customer asks Google Maps about your client?

Google announced Ask Maps on March 12, 2026. It is a chat feature in Google Maps that answers detailed questions about places, such as where to go and what to do. Google says it draws on information about more than 300 million places and on reviews.

That information includes the details on a business’s Google profile. Industry sites also report that Google is replacing the old public Q&A box on profiles with an AI-powered Ask button. We can’t tell you how Google builds any answer, and nobody outside Google can. What we can tell you is simpler. A customer reads the profile. If the hours are wrong, the phone number goes to the wrong line, or the Book button lands on an error page, that customer gets a bad answer, whether they read it or ask Google Maps.

Here is an example (made up for illustration)A plumber tells you, “We do Saturday appointments.” The profile says Saturday: Closed. A customer who needs a leak fixed on Saturday moves on to the next plumber. The owner never knew, and has no reason to look.

You can spot problems like that by clicking around a profile. The hard part is proving it. The owner says “it looks fine to me.” You say “it’s not right.” Nobody has a document to point at.

So the meeting stalls, or the audit becomes a pile of screenshots and notes you rebuild for every client.

A different place to start

Start with what the owner says is true

Most profile audits start from a checklist and end with a score. The owner nods, and the score doesn’t say what to change.

This one starts with the owner’s own words. Hours, phone, services, who confirmed them and when. Then it sets the profile against those facts and shows every place they disagree, quote against quote.

That turns “your profile needs work” into “you told me Saturday is by appointment, and your profile says closed.” The owner can’t argue with their own sentence.

One finding card from the fictional demo report. Each finding quotes the text it relies on.
Same profile, two ways to review it

What changes when the audit starts from the owner’s facts?

The usual way

  • Click around the profile and take screenshots.
  • Write notes in a document you rebuild for each client.
  • Say the profile “needs work” and hope the owner agrees.
  • Never record which links you tested, or when.

With GBP Answer Audit for Ask Maps

  • Paste each section of the profile into a guided capture screen.
  • Record the owner’s confirmed facts, with a name and a date.
  • Get contradictions, weak answers and missing answers in one table.
  • Print a branded report. Every quote was checked against your pasted text.
How the audit works

Capture. Compare. Correct.

The method is three steps, and the app does the sorting for you.

1

Capture

You open the profile in Google and paste what you see, one section at a time: contact details, categories, description, hours, services, attributes, reviews and the results of your link tests. You also record whether this was a public review or an authorized one.

2

Compare

The app builds one prepared prompt from your capture and the owner’s facts. You paste it into an AI chat, or run it with your own key. The AI lists what is wrong, weak or missing. The app then checks every quote against what you pasted and drops any finding it can’t match.

3

Correct

You print the report, then work through the fixes with the owner. Each change gets marked Submitted when you send it, and Verified live only after you reload the live profile and see it there.

What you hand the owner

Which customer questions does the profile actually answer?

The report lists the questions customers ask a business like this one. Next to each is a status: Answered, Weak, Missing or Conflicting. A status of Answered needs a quote from the profile text. If the quote doesn’t match, the app lowers it to Weak.

You see counts, such as “3 of 10 customer questions answered.” There is no score and no ranking number. Nobody can defend those, so the report doesn’t make one up.

Three examples of what it finds (illustrative)A phone number that dials the after-hours line. Saturday hours that disagree with the owner. A service the owner offers that the services tab never mentions.
Everything included

What do you get with your access?

One browser app, one training guide, and nothing you have to build yourself.

Capture

Guided Profile Capture

Nine labeled boxes walk you through the profile: contact details, categories, description, hours, services, attributes, link tests, reviews and website text. Each box says where to look in Google.

  • Public review or authorized review, stated in the report
  • Link tests recorded with destination, device and time
  • A review sample you describe, so the report never overstates it
  • An unsaved-changes warning so you don’t lose a paste

You stop working from memory and screenshots, and the report can say exactly what you looked at.

Owner-Confirmed Facts

Record the hours, phone, services, coverage area and exceptions the owner confirms, with the name of the person who confirmed them and the date.

  • A service-area switch, so a business with no public address is never told to show one
  • Real customer questions the owner hears, in their words
  • Facts stored with each project, ready to compare

The owner’s sentence becomes the yardstick, and that is what makes a disagreement hard to wave away.

Audit

Answer Audit with Quote Check

The app prepares the prompt, you use your preferred AI, and the response comes back as a structured report. Every quote is matched against the text you pasted.

  • Findings with no matching quote are withheld, and you see a private note about it
  • Findings the text can’t support go under Needs confirmation, not under Confirmed
  • Instructions hidden inside pasted reviews are treated as plain text, never as orders
  • Manual copy-and-paste by default, or your own OpenAI key

You get a report you can defend, because a quote either matches your capture or it doesn’t make the page.

Customer Question Check

A table of the questions customers ask, plus any the owner supplied, each marked Answered, Weak, Missing or Conflicting with the fix beside it.

  • Counts you can read at a glance
  • Questions from the owner labeled as theirs, typical questions labeled as typical
  • A fix written next to every gap

The conversation moves from “is something wrong?” to “which fix first?”

Deliver

Client-Ready Reports

Your agency name, contact details, logo and accent color, plus the client’s logo, on a report you print to PDF from your browser.

  • Scope box that says public or authorized and what was captured
  • The three most useful actions up top
  • Needs-confirmation items kept apart from confirmed findings
  • Private notes never print

The owner gets one document that says what is wrong, what is only a question, and what you will do next.

Saved Projects, Re-Audits and Backups

Keep every client in one place, run the audit again after the fixes, and export a backup file whenever you like.

  • Multiple clients, switchable from the sidebar
  • Saved audits to compare before and after
  • Import and export of project backups
  • Two fictional demo projects to learn on, a plumber and a beauty studio

You can show the owner the profile you started with and the one you ended with.

Illustrated Core Training Guide

A step-by-step guide to your first audit, from creating the project to the client handoff.

  • How to ask the owner for confirmed facts
  • What to paste, with examples
  • How to read the quote check and the Needs confirmation section
  • How to present the report and hand off the fixes

You know what to do first, and you don’t need to guess at it.

Your first audit

How do you run an audit?

You run it in six short steps. You can try the whole thing on the fictional demo before you touch a real client.

  1. Create a project and enter the facts the owner confirmed.
  2. Open the profile in Google and paste each section into Capture.
  3. Test the phone, website and booking buttons and note the results. Never place a real order or booking to test.
  4. Click Run the answer audit. Paste the prepared prompt into your AI chat, then paste the answer back.
  5. Review the findings, then print the report to PDF.
  6. Work through the fixes with the owner and mark each one Submitted, then Verified live.

Capture takes as long as it takes to copy and paste. Reviewing the findings and talking with the owner is your part, and it is the part clients pay a consultant for.

Before you decide

What are you probably wondering?

What if I can’t get into the client’s Google account?

Then do a public review. It uses only what any customer sees, and the report says so in its scope box. Features that need the management side, like Collected Info and AI messaging, are marked as not inspected and are never reported as problems. If the owner sends you a screenshot, you can switch the review to authorized for those parts. You never need a password.

Won’t the AI just make things up?

It can try. That is why every quote it returns is checked against the text you pasted. A finding whose quote doesn’t match is withheld. A customer question marked Answered with no matching quote drops to Weak. The check proves the words are in your capture. It does not prove the AI is right, so you still review each finding before you print.

Do I need an API key or an AI subscription?

No. Manual mode builds a prompt that you paste into any AI chat you already use, then you paste the answer back. If you want it to run inside the app, add your own OpenAI key. OpenAI bills you for that use, and the app never retries a failed paid request on its own.

Is this just another monthly tool?

No. You buy it once. The tools in the comparison below charge every month, and they do other things this app doesn’t, like rank grids and tracking. This app does one job: a guided, quote-checked audit and a report.

Does it work if I don’t have clients yet?

Yes, if you can see a business’s public profile. You can audit a prospect’s public profile and bring the report to the first conversation. Without the owner’s confirmed facts the audit can’t spot contradictions, so ask for a short call to confirm them first.

Is this the same as Website Answer Audit with a new name?

No. Website Answer Audit reads website pages. This one reviews the Google profile and the buttons on it: phone, website and booking. They fit together, but you don’t need one to use the other.

Where does my client data go?

Into the browser you use. There is no cloud sync, so export a backup before you clear your browser data. When you use the AI step, the text in your prompt goes to the AI service you choose, so remove customer names and phone numbers first.

Customer feedback

What Our Customers Say

This is feedback from customers across Drew’s products. It is not feedback about this new app.

Is it for you?

Who is this for, and who should skip it?

It fits you if

  • You serve local businesses and want a repeatable way to review their Google profiles.
  • You can get a few confirmed facts from the owner.
  • You want a document to put in front of the owner.
  • You are happy to review AI output before it reaches a client.

Skip it if

  • You want an automatic scanner that logs in to Google. This app doesn’t connect to Google.
  • You need rank tracking, rank grids or review monitoring.
  • You want the app to change the profile for you. You make the changes in Google yourself.
  • You expect a promise of rankings, Ask Maps mentions or leads. Nobody can promise those.
Optional Add-On
Choose it at checkout, only if you want it

Go beyond the audit: write the fixes and get the owner to say yes

The audit shows what is wrong. The owner then asks, “So what should it say?” This add-on writes the answer and tracks the work until it is live. It is a separate purchase. Your audit works fully without it.

  • Fix Writer. Drafts the profile description, service entries, hours wording and website answer sections from your actual findings. Unconfirmed facts show as [CONFIRM] placeholders, never as claims.
  • Owner Confirmation Request. One short, plain message the owner can answer in a line each: confirm these facts, approve these changes.
  • 30-Day Correction Plan. Four weeks of tasks with checkboxes, and a verify-live task for each fix, because Submitted is not Verified live.
  • Add-On Training Guide. How to choose a format, edit the drafts and run the owner conversation.

Drafting never changes anything in Google. You review every draft and submit approved changes yourself.

Optional add-on: $27 one-time. Unlocked inside the same app with a second password.

Your three options

What does it cost to review a Google profile properly?

You have three ways to do it. Keep doing it by hand, pay monthly for a tool that does a different job, or buy a workspace built for this one conversation.

Do it by hand

Click through the profile, screenshot everything, and rebuild a document for every client. It works. It also takes the hours before each meeting, and nothing records what you tested or when.

Pay monthly for a local SEO platform

These tools do real work, like ranking grids and ongoing tracking, that GBP Answer Audit for Ask Maps does not do. They also bill every month. Here is what their own pricing pages showed on November 4, 2026:

Published prices checked on each company’s own pricing page, November 4, 2026. Plans, features and prices change.
ToolEntry plan shownAbout a year of that plan
BrightLocal (Track, one location)$41 a month, or $31 a month billed annually$369 billed annually
Local Falcon (Starter)$24.99 a month$299.88
AgencyAnalytics (Core)$20 per client per month, billed annually$240 per client
GBP Answer Audit for Ask MapsOne-time purchase, no monthly fee$37 once

These are different products. We are not saying they are the wrong choice, and this app does not replace them. If you only need a guided audit and a client report, you don’t need to pay monthly for it.

Capture the profile, compare it with the owner’s facts, and print the report. You spend the meeting on the fix, not on proving there is a problem.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Is this an automated Google Business Profile scanner?

No. You open the profile yourself and paste what it shows into the app, one section at a time. The app does not scrape Google, does not connect to Google and never asks for a client’s Google login.

Do I need the owner’s Google access?

No. A public review uses only what any customer can see, and the report says so. Management-only features need an authorized view, or screenshots the owner sends you. You never need an owner’s password.

Does the app change anything in Google?

No. It finds problems and drafts fixes. You submit approved changes in Google yourself, then check the live profile.

Do I need an API key or an AI subscription?

No. Manual mode gives you a prompt to paste into any AI chat you already use, then you paste the answer back. If you would rather run it inside the app, you can add your own OpenAI API key, and OpenAI bills you for that use.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. It is a one-time purchase. If you add your own OpenAI key, that provider bills you for the AI use.

Where is my client work saved?

In the browser you use. There is no cloud sync. The app has export and import for backups, and you should export before clearing your browser data.

Does it promise better rankings, AI mentions or leads?

No. The audit shows what a profile tells customers and where details are wrong or missing. It does not predict rankings, Ask Maps mentions or revenue.

How is this different from Website Answer Audit?

Website Answer Audit reads website pages. This app reviews a Google Business Profile and the customer actions on it, such as the phone and booking buttons. You do not need one to use the other.

Can I put my agency’s name and logo on the report?

Yes. Add your agency name, contact details, logo and accent color, add the client’s logo, then print the report to PDF. Your private notes never print.

Is this connected to Google?

No. GBP Answer Audit for Ask Maps is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google LLC or Google Maps.
